The printed caption named, from left to right, David Mercer, Dennis Ventnor, and a member of the farm staff whose name was not taken. The farm staff member was the only person correctly described.
The negatives carry visitor references rather than names. This was regarded as an unnecessary precaution until the captions arrived. The man beside the green case is labelled with the docket supplied by Sarah’s notebook.
Read the correction register before reusing the image. Corrections change the words beneath a photograph, not the person who was standing there.
