The purpose of the visit

A retained copy from the correspondence file.

The visitor was not interviewed about spiders. He was asked about the way sound travelled between the west rooms. His answer occupied four pages, of which three concerned the assumption that the rooms were next to one another.

A copy went to the institute’s appointments file. That file identifies his department. We have corrected the name and left the explanation to people paid to understand it.

Picture desk, copy retained. Publication date is the date of this correction, not the date of the visit.

Notebook question: What is the Thursday visitor’s corrected surname?
